RED is coming!!!

I was finally forced to sit down and come up with a red bead and guess what? It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be! I had a request for a set of salad servers to go with a 'Coke' theme and this is one of the beads that I liked. I made a load of them on Friday, cleaned them during the hockey game last night and will create all kinds of wonderful things with them today. Tuesday morning when Dragonfly opens they will be there for all to see. Quite a contrast to all of the other colours in the studio!

And speaking of salad servers two sets sold on Friday so yesterday I focused on making salad server beads and I hope to be able to make up four new and different sets for the store...seems like it might be a good idea for Christmas!

Ancient Grains Revived...

There were only a few of these necklaces at the Hills of Erin Studio Tour but I had lots of interest so I've revived them...I had totally forgotten how much fun they are to make and I think I might just get carried away. Lots of styles now at Dragonfly and cheese knives too. I'm thinking pens, magnifying glasses, salad servers etc. are soon to follow!

NEW! Echo Beach Charm Bracelet!!!

This is a close-up of an Echo Beach (Day) charm bracelet I just finished. Subtle earthtones and sterling silver...I love it!

Echo Beach Salad Servers

I'm back! After a busy summer including a trip to NFLD and the past two weekends in the Hills of Erin Studio Tour I'm back in the blogging mood. These salad servers are wonderfully big and heavy and are showing off my 'Echo Beach Night' beads...not to be confused with the "Echo Beach Day' beads! The beads are textured and organic and pair perfectly with Jennifer McKinnon's black cherry bowl. I shared Jennifer's wood-turning studio Turn of Fate during the studio tour. Stay tuned for a picture of the bowl she is working on. It will have these beads built right into it!!!

The Beads on Broadway studio is full of wonderful gift ideas and some people are actually starting their Christmas shopping now...

FIREWEED Beads Return

FIREWEED Beads have popped up again...

Inspired by my canoe trip in the Yukon last summer these beads are an organic presentation of water, Fireweed, smoke, ash and a bit of gold hiding in the hills! I'm making them again in homour of the one year anniversary of my trip.

A Refreshing Summer Bead and a New Bracelet!

My summer bead collection, called 'Summer Splash' (thank you Heather) is sure to refresh on a hot summer day. A series of transparent, pastel beads with white dots they look nice on their own in a simple necklace or bangle bracelet or in a series of colours in something like a letter opener. Did I mention a bangle bracelet??? It's called the Broadway Bangle and it works well with all of our Broadway Bracelet Beads as well as with the new wider glass bracelet beads. One of the balls on the end of the bracelet unscrews and the bead can easily be changed to match your outfit or the season! I wear mine all the time!!! (By the way our glass and sterling silver beads work with the other snake chain bracelets out there...)

New Specialty Gift Item

It's a Cheese Knife! We've had many requests and one of our suppliers has finally designed a cheese knife with a mandrel for displaying our lampwork beads. We tried a couple and the quality is excellent so we are gradually adding to the collection at 'Beads on Broadway' using some of our favourite bead collections such as 'Tropical Storm' and 'Spring Fever' as well as some experimental new glass combinations...

The contest was a big success and we received lots of entries. Much thought went into all of the entries and we would like to thank everyone who took the time to participate. It's been a struggle but now that I've started working with purple I love it and judging by the way it's disappearing I'm not the only one. I ran out of supplies but my new shipment of frit arrived yesterday (yeah!) so tomorrow and for a couple of weeks I will be playing with purple...
